2nd Annual Woostashire Weekend Extravaganza June 8-10.

Join Berkshire/Worcester Chapters weekend extravaganza at Cardigan Lodge. We’ll have fun as we hike, cycle, paddle, eat, socialize, gather ‘round the campfire and more! Rates include 2 nights lodging, 2 breakfasts, 2 trail lunches, 2 dinners and happy hour snacks Saturday evening. Adults $138.50; Youth (ages 13-17) $117.78; Children (ages 3-12) $61.08. Save the Date for AMC’s Fall Gathering

AMC’s 2012 Fall Gathering will be held on October 19-21, at the Greenkill YMCA Retreat Center in Huguenot, NY. This year’s gathering is being hosted by the New York-North Jersey Chapter in honor of their 100th Anniversary as a chapter. Everyone is invited to this club-wide event which will include hiking, biking, paddling and many more activities in the Catskill Mountains. Upper Goose Pond Cabin Opening

The Upper Goose Pond Cabin will be opened for the season on Saturday, May 19th. Until the opening, hikers may use the open porch or tent platforms to camp as in the past. Hikers are advised to use the bear box to store their food as bears will be active soon. Starting on opening day, caretakers will be on duty at the cabin until cabin closing in mid-October. AMC’s 4th Annual Spring Fling - April 27-29, 2012

Join us at AMC’s Mohican Outdoor Center for a fun-filled weekend. Take a hike on scenic trails within the 67,000 acres of the beautiful Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area or along the Appalachian Trail. Or bring your bike and take a ride on some of the park’s quiet roads and rail-trails. Or spend some time paddling around Catfish Pond (kayaks, canoes and gear are provided). Explore the Holland Glen Forest Hike

The Belchertown Conservation Commission along with the Kestrel Land Trust and Charlie Eiseman of Northern Naturalists are sponsoring a nature hike at Holland Glen and Wentworth Conservation Area on June 12th from 10am to noon. New England National Scenic Trail Restoration

Join us on Saturday and Sunday, May 21 and 22, 2011 as we continue restoration efforts on a segment of the New England National Scenic Trail at Mt. Tom.

Reservation staff, the Appalachian Mountain Club, NET personnel and Trailwrights, Inc (a professional trail maintenance organization) will demonstrate to volunteers-and guide them through-the techniques of trail restoration.

A great opportunity to learn or update skills, meet new faces, enjoy hearty food, and help to restore this trail for future generations.

Snacks will be provided on both days; lunch will be provided to all-day participants on Saturday.

White Mountain Hiker Shuttle Ends for Season, Oct 17

The Hiker Shuttle operates daily from June 3 through September 12, and on weekends and holidays from September 18 through October 17.

Warning: Deer Hunting Season Begins November 27

Hikers and other woods-wanderers beware: in Massachusetts, shotgun hunting season for deer begins the Monday after Thanksgiving (November 27) and runs through December 9. If you’re going to head out into the woods anyway, wear bright colors! (No hunting is allowed on Sundays.)
