Cyclists enjoy a ride from Williamsburg to Ashfield and back

Nine cyclists shared a beautiful day together for a recreational 31-mile group ride from Williamsburg up to Ashfield, through Conway, and back. The route passed through stunning Chapel Falls, and meandered along quaint streams and expansive reservoirs. There was plenty of shade and several rest stops, including one at Elmer's store in Ashfield. At the conclusion of the ride, many riders celebrated and socialized over lunch at The Brewmaster's Tavern before heading home.

Cheshire Celebrates Appalachian Trail Community Designation

On June 30th, state and local community leaders joined the Cheshire A.T. committee and representatives of the Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC) to officially celebrate the designation of Cheshire as an Appalachian Trail Community by the ATC, a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and management of the A.T. The event took place on the property of Diane’s Twist Ice Cream Shop on Main Street in Cheshire.

Want a Unique Volunteer Experience?

Wilcox South Shelter

Many Chapter members know well how to find out about upcoming trips like bicycling rides, hikes, climbs, and paddling excursions. What isn't as well known is that "volunteer opportunities" are listed in a different place! While most volunteer opportunities take place in the outdoors just like Chapter trips, they aren't really "trips." Rather, they are opportunities to "give back" in different ways, like these:

AMC Adventure Travel Opportunities

Wild Alaska Day Hiking and Touring by Land, Sea, and Air
June 24-July 3, 2018
A spectacular trip for those looking to sample Alaska with only a daypack! Due to popular demand, we are offering a second session of this trip in 2018. On this spectacular journey, we will be hiking and sightseeing during the day, staying in comfortable lodging at night, and eating fresh seafood and local grub all through the long days of Alaska's ephemeral summer. We will spend 10 days and 9 nights exploring Anchorage and the Chugach mountain range, Denali National Park, and rub elbows with the locals in the funky mountain town of Talkeetna (perhaps the model for the TV show, "Northern Exposure").
