For 2009, the Chapter’s “Berkshire Bash” Annual Meeting was a potluck held at the American Legion Hall, 162 Russell St. (Route 9) in Hadley. There was a good turnout of about 50 people, with plenty of food for all—appetizers, main dishes, and desserts.
First order of business: the Executive Committee nominees for 2010 were elected.
To lead off the evenings presentations the Berkshire Chapter was given a citation from the Massachusetts House of Representatives for ‘80 years of promoting the protection, enjoyment and stewardship of the outdoors’. The citation was sponsored by State Representative John Scibak and presented to the chapter by Robert Judge.
Following this presentation was the traditional volunteer recognition.
Patrick Fletcher (who was not present) received special recognition for his hard work and success on the New England National Scenic Trail.
Michael Root received a certificate for being an outstanding Young Members hike leader.
Much to the surprise of the recipients, Fall Gathering Co-Chairs Deborah Levine and Rob Robertson each received a Certificate of Appreciation for their hard work on the successful club-wide event hosted by our Chapter. This award was presented to them by Past Chair Jon Hanauer.
And for the finale of the volunteer recognition, Christine Fogarty received the Chapter’s 2009 Appie of the Year award for her impressive hard work and devotion to the Chapter. She was registrar for Fall Gathering, and continued her hard work as Training & Education Committee Chair.
To end the evening, a few members presented slides of exciting trips they’d taken within the last couple of years.
