Wilderness First Aid / First Responder Training

AMC's Noble View Outdoor Center is hosting several two-day Wilderness First Aid courses, as well as a more in-depth 9-day Wilderness First Responder training.

Wilderness First Aid Training:
Sat-Sun, May 7-8, 2016
Sat-Sun, May 21-22, 2016

The SOLO Wilderness First Aid course is an intense yet fun journey through the world of wilderness emergency care and is recommended for all outdoors people. Standard first aid practices are generally based on the assumption that help will arrive shortly and that the patient will be out of your hands and at the hospital in under an hour. Wilderness First Aid training intends to prepare you for the medical situation that arises where there is no ambulance, roof or walls to provide shelter from the elements, your supplies are few, the wait for help is unknown, and moving the patient a short distance might take hours. Cost is $165.00 with optional lodging available for a small additional fee. Subsidized funding is available for active Berkshire Chapter leaders.

Wilderness First Responder Training:
Thursday, May 19 to Friday, May 27, 2016

The Wilderness First Responder course is the recognized industry standard for those who work as backcountry trip leaders, camp counselors, mountain guides, river guides, and ski patrollers. It's the perfect course for anyone working in a position of leadership in an outdoor setting or for individuals who want a high level of wilderness medical training for extended personal backcountry trips or expeditions. The course is 9 days, and is a comprehensive and in-depth look at the standards and skills of dealing with response and assessment in the backcountry. Cost is $600.00 including lodging.
