Who We Are

MISSION STATEMENT: Appalachian Mountain Club

The Appalachian Mountain Club promotes the protection, enjoyment and understanding of the mountains, rivers, and trails of the Appalachian region.

We believe that mountains and rivers have an intrinsic worth and also provide recreational opportunities, spiritual renewal, and ecological and economic health for the region.

We encourage people to enjoy and appreciate the natural world because we believe that successful conservation depends on this experience.

The AMC Berkshire Chapter has over 3400 members throughout western Massachusetts, and covers all of the Berkshires and the Connecticut River Valley. Berkshire Chapter members maintain trails and lead hiking, snowshoeing, kayaking, canoeing, mountaineering, and other trips.

You don't need to be a member to participate in Chapter trips and events. Throughout the year you will discover day and overnight trips, potluck dinners, conservation opportunities, and activities at the Noble View facility in Russell MA and along the Appalachian Trail.
