Hello all Berkshire AMC members from the Publicity chair! I have a couple of relatively easy tasks for you, should you decide to take them on. For one thing, though I know there are over 2000 members of the Berkshire Chapter, only 41 of you have “liked” the chapter Facebook page. Perhaps many aren’t on Facebook - but if you are, please either search for Appalachian Mountain Club to find the Berkshire Chapter page, or click on the link from this website. Once you “like” the page, you’ll be notified about occasional events or last-minute trips, and will be able to post photos or comments about your AMC experiences.
SOCIAL HOUR, POTLUCK, ANNUAL MEETING, VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION, GUEST SPEAKER Saturday, November 5th from 6 - 9 PM at the American Legion Hall in Hadley
We’re expecting a fantastic evening of dining and entertainment. Committee chairs from mountaineering, Appalachian Trail, outings, paddling, young members, etc., will be available to talk about what they do and inviting you to participate. Special guest will be Ron “Pathfinder” Strickland, trailblazer, author, and conservationist.
Enjoy New Hampshire in the fall with fellow AMC volunteers, friends and families at Fall Gathering October 14-16, 2011 * Nature’s Classroom at Sargent Center in Hancock, NH.
Save the date for this year’s Fall Gathering hosted by the Boston Chapter. Watch for more details in the upcoming Outdoors magazines.
The Berkshire Chapter AMC Annual Dinner will be held on Saturday November 6 beginning at 6 PM in the Hadley American Legion Hall, 162 Russell St., Hadley, MA. All Berkshire members are welcome and encouraged to attend. The agenda will include the election of officers, member recognition, wonderful food and a great keynote speaker. Please register via e-mail to Dave Sauriol at vicechair@amcberkshire.org so we know how much food to put on the stove. A nominal $10 fee will be collected at the door to help defray costs of the dinner. This year’s guest speaker will be Tina Clarke of the Transition Movement, who will discuss local sustainability efforts to address the triple threats of economic instability, climate change and escalating energy costs. Hope to see y’all there!
The following listing covers all the meetings and events for the Executive Committee during 2009.
We keep minutes of our executive committee meetings here on the web, so that our members can stay informed.
Chapter Chair Jon Hanauer has announced that Deborah Levine, the Chapter’s membership chair, has accepted the Chapter vice chair position.
Each year, we compile a chapter “annual report” containing summaries of each committees’ activities over the year. It’s not the most exciting reading ever, but hey, if you’re really interested in what chapter administrative types are up to (or having trouble falling asleep)…
You can download copies of past year’s annual reports in PDF format.
The chapter Executive Committee (“ExCom”) is the top level of chapter leadership, representing all the committees that keep us humming.
An organization as large and active as AMC-Berkshire needs some structure to keep it functioning well, and to make sure information gets to the people who need it: the people who participate in our activities.
