Young Members (20s/30s)

young members

AMC’s Berkshire Chapter of Western Mass invites people in their 20s & 30s as well as the young-at-heart to attend our Young Members (20s & 30s) activities.

We offer hikes throughout Western Mass, and usually follow these with an option to stop at a nearby restaurant, bar, brewery, winery, creamery, marketplace for picnic food, swimming hole, or community event.

If you’d like to receive emails about our activities (just sent a few times throughout the year), please contact: [email protected]

Have you ever thought about becoming an AMC leader so you can share your favorite outdoor places with others? We’d love to have you join our team! In addition to hikes, we would like to offer other outdoor activities in the future such as cross-country skiing, bicycling, paddling, mountaineering, volunteer activities, and others. Let us know what you’re interested in leading and we can help you make it happen! Just send an email to the above address, and thanks.

Young Members Inter-Chapter Hike on the New England Trail

High point vista on the NET

With half of the autumn leaves still on the trees and the other half covering our path ahead, we all gathered by our cars. Some of us put on our gloves, and some of us wished that we had brought gloves; the cold fall weather came quickly. We exchanged names (and repeated them a few times for memory), reviewed our plan for the day, and then we began our hike.

3rd Annual Outdoor Festival a Big Success!

Jan Alicia Nettler receives AMC Volunteer Award

The Berkshire Chapter's annual Outdoor Festival at Noble View on Saturday, September 15, was a great success, with more than 150 attending.

Highlights of the event included:

The World is our Classroom: An Afternoon with Author Cindy Ross

Cindy’s story begins in the Rocky Mountain wilderness on a unique and extraordinary journey: two parents leading their young children 3,100 miles on the backs of llamas. This Canada-Mexico trek illustrated to Cindy and her husband what experiential education can do. Inspired by the experience, they went on to create a new way of supplementing their children’s education, focusing on two arenas for learning: the natural world and travel.
