AMC Online Trips Database

This is information for chapter volunteers who interact with the AMC Online Trips Database in an administrative way, i.e., contributing, reviewing, approving, or editing trip listings.

The public-facing page of the trips database is:

The login page for adding/editing/reviewing/approving trips is:

Some terminology:

  • Contributors are people who enter trips (only); they might be trip leaders, monthly coordinators, etc.
  • Reviewers are committee-level people who have to approve contributed trips based on appropriateness, leader qualifications, scheduling, etc. They can also enter trips (and, implicitly, review them at the same time).
  • Approvers are chapter-level people who approve contributed/reviewed trips for formatting, AMC-mandated abbreviations, correct use of database fields, etc. (Once contributors and reviewers are sufficiently familiar with the system, this should be mostly rubber-stamping.)

At present, trip entry has been assigned to committee-level Reviewers. Each committee can decide whether to create Contributor accounts and sub-delegate trip entry to them.

Jon Hanauer (approver@amcberkshire.org) is our Approver and general Online Trips Database expert and go-to guy.

At the bottom of this page you can download some “how-to” documentation prepared by Joy Street. If you’re a committee-level Reviewer entering trips, you’ll probably want to pay attention to the documentation for Contributors, and also to some of the docs for Reviewers/Approvers.

May the Force be with you.
