Chapter Leadership

An organization as large and active as AMC-Berkshire needs some structure to keep it functioning well, and to make sure information gets to the people who need it: the people who participate in our activities. The Chapter depends entirely on volunteers to do everything, including (but not limited to):

  • Lead the trips;
  • Coordinate the trip leaders;
  • Train trip leaders;
  • Schedule trips;
  • Maintain the Appalachian Trail and Metacomet-Monadnock Trail;
  • Manage the Noble View property;
  • Write, print, and mail our publications;
  • Keep our accounts straight;
  • Pursue our conservation efforts;
  • Make our meetings and celebrations happen;
  • Design and maintain this website;
  • Coordinate with the main AMC offices and other AMC chapters; and
  • Keep the whole thing from coming unglued.

The top level of Chapter leadership is the Executive Committee, which includes representatives from each of the committees (Outings, Young Members, Conservation, Noble View, Appalachian Trail, Membership, etc.) as well as key officers (Treasurer, Webmaster, Chapter Chair, etc.). Each major interest area has its own committee to keep it humming along. The area committees handle arranging of trips and leaders for that area.

If you’d like to get involved, contact anyone from an activity or area that interestes you!
