Improvements to the existing privy at Noble View Camp have been made and hopes are high that construction of the bathouse, which could include flush toilets, could begin this year.
Noble View Chair Rob Roberston recently announced that the antiquated three-seat outhouse has been renovated to include two seats which are better placed for cleanliness and comfort.
And, while AMC headquarters has given approval for a loan that would allow work to begin on construction of the bathhouse, several steps must first be completed, Robertson said. Voters at the town of Russell’s May 12 Town Meeting must approve the purchase of a conservation restriction for the land where Noble View is located. A closing on the sale of the conservation restriction is set for May 19.
While the goal was to begin construction in May, the permit for the septic system for the bathhouse has expired and new regulations may apply. If so, the project could be delayed one year, Robertson said.
