AMC’s Berkshire Chapter of Western Mass invites people in their 20s & 30s as well as the young-at-heart to attend our Young Members (20s & 30s) activities.

We offer hikes throughout Western Mass, and usually follow these with an option to stop at a nearby restaurant, bar, brewery, winery, creamery, marketplace for picnic food, swimming hole, or community event.

Have you ever thought about becoming an AMC leader so you can share your favorite outdoor places with others? We’d love to have you join our team! In addition to hikes, we would like to offer other outdoor activities in the future such as cross-country skiing, bicycling, paddling, mountaineering, volunteer activities, and others. Young Members

WILDERNESS FIRST AID TRAINING

Learn how to manage an emergency in the backcountry from SOLO and their instructors. This two day course covers standard emergency situations and the care of the sick and injured in a wilderness setting. The emphasis is on patient assessment, care and evacuation. The fee covers course instruction and material: $130 for AMC Members and $165 for non AMC members. CPR is available Saturday evening for an additional $40 fee. Camping is also available Saturday night at a fee of $20. Space is limited and preference is given to active Berkshire Chapter leaders.

Whether you'd like to become a Chapter leader, or just want to improve your outdoor skills, you're invited to attend. Training emphasizes: group dynamics, leaders' responsibilities, trip planning/management, weather emergencies, incident/accident scene management, leader awareness, diversity/equity/inclusion and decision-making.

18th Annual AT Volunteer Gathering

Join us for our Annual AT Volunteer Gathering!

If you already volunteer or are interested in volunteering with the Massachusetts Appalachian Trail Maintainers come over and meet with all of our volunteers. We will recap what we have done this past year, future plans, gear swap, as well as breakout sessions!

The gathering will be on February 1st, 2020 9 AM- 2 PM at the Taconic High School 96 Valentine Rd, Pittsfield, MA
